I love to look for patterns. Rivulets left behind by water on a shower door, leaf skeletons blown onto a sidewalk by wind and rain, or the craziness of uneven pavement all intrigue me. Sometimes, the briefest glimpse of an object will excite me. Friends who wander with me through neighborhoods or parks know that I’m inclined to stop and exclaim about something I’ve noticed. I walk with my eyes directed up and down, hoping to be surprised. Include into this mix a love of historical and cultural designs, and it becomes a personal challenge to create compositions that include so many disparate elements. I use all with abandon by incorporating what I’ve found with what I have. And what I have is a quixotic assortment of materials that allows me to produce work that, in the end, doesn’t belong to any one place or another.
