Mixed Media

Paper fascinates me. I collect and use all kinds, from the wildly embellished to postcards, outdated calendars, discarded books and atlases, as well as fragments of my own paintings and original hand-decorated papers. Others simply defy categorization. I manage to wrangle a composition out of this potential disorder and complete the image with hand embroidery. By being altered, these papers become more than the sum of their parts. They reaffirm the idea that our disposable world can be made beautiful if we have the patience to make it so.
